Garment Technology Manager Manchester Our client is a design house and clothing importer based in the UK with a turnover of £45 million supplying the UK, mainland Europe and rest of world high street retailers. We are seeking to recruit a Garment Technology Manager to lead their technology team based in head office in Manchester. As Technical Manager you will serve as a role model to challenge, develop and lead a team of five garment technologists, one fabric technologist and a compliance expert ensuring the best quality of garment is produced, across multi products for both stock and contract customers whilst overseeing and helping to implement an ethical compliance business strategy that delivers exceptional standards. The role focus is to increase customer satisfaction by implementing and managing a technical and quality strategy that delivers safe, fit for purpose products to exceed customer expectations, maximising sales and profit. As a valued member of the senior management team, you will report directly to the company Directors and work very closely with all internal teams. Other duties and responsibilities: Working to agreed critical paths so that contracted delivery dates can be achieved. Acting as a technical ‘centre of excellence’, keeping up to date with technical developments, contribute to product improvements, communicating these to the team and providing technical advice and support. Ensure consistent product quality, sizing, fabric and colour standards are achieved across own brand product types, working closely with other departments to achieve consistency across the whole product offer. Requirements: A natural leader who inspires and motivates with previous technical management experience. Significant experience in apparel fields with a thorough knowledge of production processes. Be able to proactively identify and analyse problems to propose commercial solutions. Be a decisive and committed decision maker. Able to liaise with senior management, sales, design, and merchandise teams to ensure efficiency across the business. Have market awareness of competition. Strong communication skills to liaise with Global suppliers. Able to give technical advice on quality and fabric bases, both knitted and woven. Be commercially aware. Exceptionally well organised with good attention to detail. Good level of computer skills and general systems literacy including excel and have experience of a data base such as PLMS. Have a flexible and proactive approach. Able to be hands on to work as part of a team to ease workloads when required. The role may involve some travel. Education at degree level or time proven work experience.

Proficient in Adobe Software, including Illustrator and Photoshop (minimum 2-3 years’ experience) See concept designs through to production, working closely with buyers and factories to ensure the brief is met. Work closely with technologists and merchandisers, to ensure products fit and find solutions to any problems in production. Researching trends, and creating mood boards for new projects and seasons ahead. Collaborate with other creatives in the Design team to ensure a common vision and consistent branding across the business. Attending customer meetings and prepare for presentations. Design to a brief and amend as buyer requests, display experience of liaising with buyers requests and demands. Creating exclusive designs, with awareness of cost and factory restrictions. Prepare design packs, including technical drawing and size specs. Thorough understanding of the current market and research of retailers to ensure handwriting is in line. Manage day to day work load, working closely with buyers and factories to ensure deadlines are met for samples and designs. Develop new products with the factories from research, requesting new fabrics and embellishments. Reasonable travel, including factory visits and regular comparative shopping in the UK and overseas. A rapidly expanding company, the successful candidate will play an intricate part in an evolving team to fully support the HR function throughout the business. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to; • To maintain all HR systems ensuring data and records are accurate and up to date • Reporting data and creating excel spreadsheets • Developing job descriptions and person specifications • Preparing job adverts, checking application forms, short listing and sifting CV's, interviewing and selecting candidates • Liaison with recruitment agencies • To produce and issue offer letters and employee contracts • Liaising with Hiring Managers for vacancies in Head Office and in Stores • Introduce new employees to the company and walk them through the induction • To ensure all new starter paperwork is completed and relevant information provided to Payroll • To provide line manager with new starter documents to ensure a smooth on boarding process for the new employee • Managing the HR inbox • Responsible for the organization of Agency staff by liaising with the Agency Company and Warehouse Management • To administer starter/leaver processes • Supporting and leading Formal Meetings, such as disciplinary, grievances and flexible working applications • Organisation of HR documents in preparation for meetings (invite letters and outcome letters) • Advising employee and Line Managers on all HR related queries. Confident in chairing ER related meetings such as disciplinaries • Liaise with Payroll regarding relevant employee information, for example employee absence • Support in revising Company policies, procedures and employee handbook • Respond to reference requests • Ensure electronic and paper based personnel files are maintained and filing/archiving is completed in a timely manner • Support Payroll when required About you: • Previous experience of working within a HR environment • Familiarity with the full recruitment and selection cycle • Advanced in excel and able to do Macros, complex formulas, V-Look Ups and combining multiple cells of data • Good verbal and written communication skills • Be able to take accountability and influence matters • Well organised and apply a conscientious working approach • Show dedication and a pro-active, can do attitude and can think outside of the box • Up to date knowledge of legislation • Confident and able to work under pressure
