About the Role

Junior Buyer

Birmingham

Rewarding, visionary and fast paced – our clients’ Buying Department are looking for a Junior Buyer to join their passionate creative team in Birmingham.

You will make effective and commercially focused buying decisions to buy product across ladieswear under the management and supervision of your Senior Buyer. As a Junior Buyer you should be highly motivated, with technical flair, excellent communication skills and a can-do attitude. Ideally with 12-24 months experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities:

Completes all processes with reference to daily/weekly sales, as well as longer term plans.

Reporting and effectively communicate all key information in trading meeting to Buyer and Directors.

Generate ideas and suggestion to impact the business with reference to promotions and mark downs.

Provides SWOT analysis on designated categories.

Monitors and maintains stocks as per KPI’s set and manages open to buy accordingly.

Responds to competitor analysis.

Support your Senior Buyer to develop new strategies for the business and department.

Complete buying trips as and when needed.

They are based in Manchester and ship to countries around the globe. The role: Conduct fit sessions for own product areas in house and at source, balancing speed and quality, making commercial decisions with confidence, owning the fitting process and inspiring trust and confidence from colleague and suppliers. Sending clear concise and accurate comments to suppliers, processing samples in a timely and agile manner in line with KPIs. Liaising with design, buying and suppliers to offer technical guidance on new product development with the aim of reducing cost and improving quality. Ensuring compliance with product safety and reach legislation, assessing risk, advising on relevant testing, recording and resolving non-compliance effectively and efficiently. Contributing to initiatives to reduce customers returns. Always promoting quality whilst maintaining a strong commercial attitude. Helping design and buying team on developments. Overseeing GT department on manager absence, giving support to junior members. About you: Previous experience within a similar role in a fast-paced environment is essential. A technically oriented qualification, preferably degree level is essential. Confident and assertive individual with ability to manage their own fit sessions. Comprehensive understanding of fitting and fit issues is essential. Experience of working directly with factories and a thorough understanding of factory production, including workflow and production control. First class communication skills. An interest in travel desirable. Able to meet new challenges with a positive attitude. Strong time management skills, able to prioritise tasks and change direction with agility. Confident using Microsoft Office including Excel. Keen to expand skill set as the role demands. They are a small friendly team working across a wide variety of textile products ranging from sleepwear, filled goods and textile accessories. The role offers a great opportunity to expand a commercial product knowledge and work with several retailers in the UK. Our client is part of a large corporation turning over $500million across a global platform over the last 20 years. We are looking for an individual to support the team and buyers, with particular reference to account administration and market research. In time you could look to manage some of the accounts independently. Duties include: Following the sealing process, monitoring samples, checking packaging and testing in line with the critical path. Sample tracking with our China merchandisers and feeding this back to the buying teams, as well as chasing tech reports and sometime shipping updates. Ensuring tracker spreadsheets and sample bought lists are kept up to date. Arranging couriers and managing photo samples Being market aware and attending and recording comparative competitive research. Attending customer meetings and trade shows when required. Drive to visit stores for research purposes. Work across multi-disciplinary products and teams, sometimes multi-tasking across different products daily. Confidently convey product knowledge and pricing to retail buyers with the support of the sales manager. Ideal candidate: Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook, experience in use of Zoom and Microsoft teams Excellent organization skills Highly motivated Team player Able to meet deadlines Keen interest in home textiles Ability to work independently and collaboratively Keen eye for detail The position is full time Monday – Friday with hybrid working considered. 12 month initial contract.
