Import Merchandiser

Our client is the UK's leading supplier of children's, ladies, and men's licensed character and non-licensed nightwear, daywear, and swimwear. Their extensive retail supply chain includes top high street stores, supermarkets and online retailers. They collaborate with overseas factories located in Turkey, China, India, and Bangladesh.
We are seeking an experienced Import Merchandiser to join their dynamic head office team based in Altrincham, Cheshire. This role is integral in overseeing the flow of merchandising orders from initial artwork to bulk production and final approval.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the merchandising process from artwork stage to bulk production.
- Collaborate with Design & Sales Teams during the initial stages of Cad designs.
- Focus on buying samples and work closely with retail buyers for submissions and approvals.
- Send design artwork packs to overseas factories.
- Contact factories and verify all styling and product details.
- Ensure accuracy of retail purchase orders before processing.
- Receive pre-production samples and manage submissions with buyers and licensors.
- Check print positions and templates for compliance.
- Maintain internal and retail critical paths, ensuring timely order delivery.
- Address any shipment delays professionally with both factories and customers.
- Utilize internal product development systems, production schedules, and licensor approval platforms.
About You:
- Experience in a Merchandiser role, preferably in Baby/Kidswear.
- A positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team.
- Confident verbal and written communication skills.
- Well-organized, flexible, with strong analytical and administrative abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Full driving license is essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Office, Word, and Excel.

The role:
Conduct fit sessions for own product areas in house and at source, balancing speed and quality, making commercial decisions with confidence, owning the fitting process and inspiring trust and confidence from colleague and suppliers.
Sending clear concise and accurate comments to suppliers, processing samples in a timely and agile manner in line with KPIs.
Liaising with design, buying and suppliers to offer technical guidance on new product development with the aim of reducing cost and improving quality.
Ensuring compliance with product safety and reach legislation, assessing risk, advising on relevant testing, recording and resolving non-compliance effectively and efficiently.

About you:
Previous experience within a similar role in a fast-paced environment is essential.
A technically oriented qualification, preferably degree level is essential.
Confident and assertive individual with ability to manage their own fit sessions.
Comprehensive understanding of fitting and fit issues is essential.
Experience of working directly with factories and a thorough understanding of factory production, including workflow and production control.
First class communication skills.
An interest in travel desirable.
Able to meet new challenges with a positive attitude.
Strong time management skills, able to prioritise tasks and change direction with agility.
Confident using Microsoft Office including Excel.

We are looking for a home textile account assistant to join a team based in central Manchester in line with our clients exciting growth. They are a small friendly team working across a wide variety of textile products ranging from sleepwear, filled goods and textile accessories. The role offers a great opportunity to expand a commercial product knowledge and work with several retailers in the UK.
Our client is part of a large corporation turning over $500million across a global platform over the last 20 years.
We are looking for an individual to support the team and buyers, with particular reference to account administration and market research. In time you could look to manage some of the accounts independently.
Duties include:
Following the sealing process, monitoring samples, checking packaging and testing in line with the critical path.
Sample tracking with our China merchandisers and feeding this back to the buying teams, as well as chasing tech reports and sometime shipping updates.
Ensuring tracker spreadsheets and sample bought lists are kept up to date.
Arranging couriers and managing photo samples
Being market aware and attending and recording comparative competitive research.
Attending customer meetings and trade shows when required.
Drive to visit stores for research purposes.
Work across multi-disciplinary products and teams, sometimes multi-tasking across different products daily.
Confidently convey product knowledge and pricing to retail buyers with the support of the sales manager.
Ideal candidate:
Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook, experience in use of Zoom and Microsoft teams

You will be:
Measuring samples, checking the construction and quality of the garments including fabric quality, colours and print
Handling all fit sessions and comments
Risk assessment of all products for safety, compliance to global legislations, fabric and trim suitability in relation to construction and functionality
Providing notes, comments and diagrams on workbooks, sending to suppliers on daily basis, at proto and production stage
Ensuring consistency of fit and grading across multiple products in Womenswear
Keeping Critical Path up to date
Assisting with the review of submissions sent from the factories including bulk fabric and print submissions
You will have:
A minimum of 4 years' experience within Ladieswear
A degree or equivalent in clothing technology or manufacture/fashion
Must have excellent communication skills, be self-motivated, have attention to detail & be a strong team player
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to communicate and interact with internal and external business partners across UK, Europe and the Rest of the World
Knowledge of Vetigraph and Gerber pattern cutting, grading and construction would be advantageous
