About the Role

Womenswear Designer

Leeds

About the Role
We’re looking for a talented and creative Womenswear Designer to join a passionate Design Team on a maternity cover contract.

You’ll work closely with the Womenswear Buyers, Head of Design, and Founder to continually grow and evolve our clients' womenswear collections — bringing fresh ideas that stay true to the distinctive brand handwriting.

This role requires a high level of graphic and print ability, along with a strong eye for colour, detail, and silhouette. You’ll need proven strengths in designing dresses and jackets, excellent Photoshop and Illustrator skills, and the confidence to work directly with suppliers — from concept through to sample sign-off.

It’s a hands-on, fast-paced role that calls for both creativity and commercial awareness, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while keeping customers at the heart of everything you do.

Key Responsibilities
•    Research and interpret emerging trends, using this insight to enhance seasonal collections.
•    Create design themes that reflect current trends while maintaining brand handwriting and brand territories.
•    Design across key womenswear product areas, including dresses, jackets, graphic tops, and nightwear.
•    Develop graphics, embroideries, and prints, ensuring they align with brand identity.
•    Work collaboratively with the buying team to deliver cohesive, commercially viable ranges.
•    Source and develop new fabrics, trims, and finishes to elevate product quality and innovation.
•    Produce detailed tech packs and work closely with suppliers to ensure accurate development.
•    Attend and contribute to sign-off meetings and seasonal range reviews.
•    Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, attending local and international development trips as required.
•    Work cross-functionally with other departments to align on seasonal direction, timelines, and customer insights.
•    Uphold and enhance the brand identity through every design you create.

About You

You’ll be an experienced designer with at least three years’ experience in womenswear design, ideally within a lifestyle or fashion brand. You’ll combine creativity with strong technical understanding and a commercial mindset, always balancing innovation with customer appeal.

You’ll be a confident communicator, highly organised, and able to manage your own workload effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Experience
Essential Criteria
•    Minimum 3 years’ experience as a womenswear designer.
•    Proven ability to design dresses, jackets, graphic tops, and prints.
•    Strong Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills.
•    Strong knowledge of current and future fashion trends.
•    Ability to create seasonal themes that reflect and enhance the brand identity.
•    Experience in developing graphics, embroideries, and prints.
•    Experience working with suppliers on product development.
•    Ability to produce detailed, accurate tech packs.

Desirable Criteria
•    Experience of working within a lifestyle or branded fashion environment.
•    Experience of collaborating closely with buyers.
•    Experience in designing nightwear.
•    Understanding and sourcing of new fabrics and trims.
•    Previous experience of working with Far East suppliers.
•    Proven ability to manage timelines and workload effectively.
