This is a unique opportunity to join a thriving company, offering excellent potential to drive your career forwards. My client is the UK’s market leading supplier of License children’s apparel, supplying character girlswear to major High Street retailers and on-line companies in the UK. A vacancy has arisen for a girls daywear designer with character licencing experience. The company is based in the North West but will offer remote working for the right candidate.

You will be:

  • Ensure high service levels are provided and newness in design is given.
  • Proficient in Adobe Software, including Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • See concept designs through to production, working closely with buyers and factories to ensure the brief is met.
  • Work closely with technologists and merchandisers, to ensure products fit and find solutions to any problems in production.
  • A common interest/knowledge for Licensed Properties and product.
  • Researching trends, and creating mood boards for new projects and seasons ahead.
  • Collaborate with other creatives in the Design team to ensure a common vision and consistent branding across the business.
  • Attending customer meetings and prepare for presentations.
  • Design to a brief and amend as buyer requests, display experience of liaising with buyers requests and demands.
  • Creating exclusive designs, with awareness of cost and factory restrictions.
  • Prepare design packs, including technical drawing and size specs.
  • Thorough understanding of the current market and research of retailers to ensure handwriting is in line.
  • Manage day to day work load, working closely with buyers and factories to ensure deadlines are met for samples and designs.
  • Develop new products with the factories from research, requesting new fabrics and embellishments.
  • Reasonable travel, including factory visits and regular comparative shopping in the UK and overseas.

We are looking for a Junior Garment Technologist to work alongside the team, to improve fit and work with suppliers to improve quality. You will: • Conduct fit sessions for own product area making commercial decisions with confidence; owning the fitting process and inspiring trust and confidence from colleagues and suppliers. • Sending clear, concise and accurate comments to suppliers; processing samples in a timely and agile manner, in line with KPI’s. • Liaising with designer and suppliers to offer technical guidance on new product development with the aim of reducing costs and improving quality. • Ensuring compliance with product safety and reach legislation; assessing risk, advising on relevant testing; recording and resolving non-compliance effectively and efficiently. • Always promoting quality, whilst maintaining a strong commercial attitude. About you: • Previous experience at Assistant Tech level within a similar role in a fast-paced environment is essential • A technically oriented qualification, preferably at degree level, is essential • Confident and assertive individual • Comprehensive understanding of fitting and fit issues is essential • Pattern cutting knowledge and practise is very desirable alongside knowledge of grading and grade rules • Experience of working directly with factories, and thorough understanding of factory production, including work-flow and production control • First class communication skills • Able to meet new challenges with a positive attitude • Strong time-management skills; able to prioritise tasks and change direction with agility • Confident using Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word • Keen to expand skill set as the role demands

Working with the wider merchandising team to ensure smooth production placement & intake planning. Responsibilities • Recommend product range structures, including option count and range depth, through data analytics. • Review sales and forecast future demand for all sales channels, planning the order volumes to achieve sales budgets. • Responsible for demand planning seasonal collections lines within the business, meeting availability targets & working with product teams to ensure commercial exit strategies. • Provide forward visibility of stock intake & inventory holding reports. • Review in-season stock opportunities and stock-out risks ensuring category profitability is maximised. • Ensure merchandising calendar and critical path deadlines are met to achieve stock delivery on time in full, providing forecast information to achieve where needed. • Line management of Merchandiser. • Review and present weekly retail trade performance into the business.
