This is an exciting opportunity for someone already established within a Merchandising function who is keen to make their mark within a relatively new Planning function. The individual will take ownership for their work, using initiative to deliver. They will work consistently at a high standard and have a keen interest in shaping how our client moves forward. Highly analytical with an eye for detail and the ability to translate data into action points in a concise manner. A commercial focus and experience of working with WSSIs is essential.
About the role:
The role will support the Head of Planning in providing strategic decision making across the key categories within the business. Main areas of focus; - Forward planning and trading of your areas. All driven by robust analysis and working closely with the buying teams.
Technical Requirements
Review previous seasons and produce analysis with supporting information.
Work alongside the HOP and Buyers to create the group mix strategy for the categories across all channels and stock profiles.
Attend Range Control and Selection meetings with the HOP and Buyers.
Ensure the Buy matches the signed off Buy Plan.
Populate the WSSIs with budget/forecast KPIs.
Manage availability on CORE lines - carry out periodic reviews on performance, exposure, cover etc.
Review trading performance on new season lines, identifying risks and opportunities whilst making recommendations for maximising sales.
Monitor performance on CARRY OVER lines – rebuys, more focus etc.
Track and highlight variance to sales plan, alongside YOY performances.
Analyse trial and new initiatives to provide clear insight.
Provide overviews/commentary on Markdown events (End of Season, Warehouse Clearance events etc).

Key Responsibilities
A pivotal role for a key team member who oversees the Merchandising side of the business
One junior to oversee and another senior to work alongside and guide / support as needed.
Working with a team of 5 designers, 2 garment techs, one senior merch and one junior merch as the wider team, outside of logistics / finance etc.
Reporting to the directors.
To nurture and manage various customer accounts from concept to delivery.
Engage with customers to hold regular meetings, take seasonal briefs and maintain / grow current business.
Work with design and tech team to create concept to be presented to customers.
Oversee production of collection and brief out to supply base in conjunction with design and tech teams, while controlling CP for seasonal development.
Negotiate prices with suppliers.
Monitor and manage sample trackers / sample development leadtimes.
Present collections to customers in conjunction with directors / design team.
Place POs and manage Order Summary.
Maintain and manage CP with regular communication with suppliers and customers on a weekly basis.
Carry out product review meetings with directors, design and tech teams on a daily / weekly basis.
Ensure goods are made to required standards alongside tech team with regards to factory audits, compliance, product testing, AQL reports etc.
Working with logistics team to ensure packing lists, shipping schedules, product approvals are in place and correct.
Nurturing and managing supply base to balance production volumes and brands between supply base to maximise efficiency and skill across supply base.
Building relationships is vital to this role, whether with internal team, supplier side or with customers.
Ideal Candidate
Proven experience as a Merchandiser, Account Manager, or Buyer within the apparel sector.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and market trends.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Managing multiple projects is key so applicants must have exceptional management skills and an eye for detail.

About you:

Experience of working directly with factories and a thorough understanding of factory production, including workflow and production control.
First class communication skills.
An interest in travel desirable.
