Mens Knitwear Designer

Manchester

 

We are looking for a Mens Knitwear Designer. This role requires a creative individual with strong technical knowledge of knitwear, along with the ability to manage client relationships and provide strategic direction for orders without handling every operational detail.

Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop knitwear collections based on seasonal trends and client requirements
Create mood boards, colour palettes, and technical sketches
Select appropriate yarns, stitches, and techniques to achieve the desired aesthetics and functionality
Oversee sampling and collaborate with factories to ensure production feasibility
Research market trends and innovations to enhance product offerings
Provide strategic direction on orders and ensure smooth coordination between design, production, and merchandising teams


Requirements:
Experience: 3+ years knitwear design
Strong knowledge of yarns, knitting techniques, pattern making and garment construction

Software Proficiency: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar design tools
Understanding of knitwear trends and manufacturing processes

Sample Management • Creating and chasing sample tracker from all suppliers. • Processing samples received (fits, development, shoots/meetings). • Labelling, logging organizing and filing samples including press and bought. • Collating and preparing meeting samples. • Preparing samples for fit meetings and recording fit notes. Administrative Support • Receiving, sending and logging in/out post accordingly. • Dealing with telephone, email queries. • Dealing with department queries, both internally and externally. • Supplier/Meetings minute taking and distributions. Key experience, skills and abilities; • Strong understanding of fashion trends and knowledge of the high street. • Excellent communication and team working skills with the ability to adapt. • Able to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines. • Good attention to detail and strong organizational skills. • Excellent working knowledge of Excel, word and Outlook.

A vacancy has arisen for an experienced Designer. You will be: Ensure high service levels are provided and newness in design is given. Proficient in Adobe Software, including Illustrator and Photoshop (minimum 2-3 years’ experience) See concept designs through to production, working closely with buyers and factories to ensure the brief is met. Work closely with technologists and merchandisers, to ensure products fit and find solutions to any problems in production. Researching trends, and creating mood boards for new projects and seasons ahead. Collaborate with other creatives in the Design team to ensure a common vision and consistent branding across the business. Attending customer meetings and prepare for presentations. Design to a brief and amend as buyer requests, display experience of liaising with buyers requests and demands. Creating exclusive designs, with awareness of cost and factory restrictions. Prepare design packs, including technical drawing and size specs. Thorough understanding of the current market and research of retailers to ensure handwriting is in line. Manage day to day work load, working closely with buyers and factories to ensure deadlines are met for samples and designs. We are looking for a talented Men’s Graphic Designer to join our clients' dynamic design team at their head office in Manchester. In this role, you will bring fresh ideas to life, shaping the visual identity of upcoming menswear collections from concept to production. The role will involve the following: Developing seasonal graphics across several in-house brands for printed t-shirts, fleece, woven shirts and Christmas character graphic knitwear (no knitwear experience required). Working to customer briefs to present relevant graphics that satisfy their style and colour direction for both UK & global contract customers. Creating technical packs for sample development and fine tuning with colourway options for production (full training will be provided). Creating style profiles for ordered styles to be raised by our merchandise department. Liaising with our offices and suppliers abroad. Requirements: Minimum of two year’s experience in a similar men’s graphic design role. Strong creative design skills with a basic understanding of garment construction. Excellent Illustrator CAD skills. AI skills would be a bonus. Strong communication skills. Commercially aware with a good eye to adapt high street trends and colour. We are seeking a junior Men’s Knitwear Designer to join their design team based at their head office in Manchester. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year industry experience of true men’s knitwear and will be required to have a flexible and conscientious approach. The role will involve the following: The focus is to work closely with the Men’s Knitwear Design Director to develop seasonal collections for priority contract customers. To also be involved in the development of stock collections across several in-house brands. Working to customer briefs to present design work that satisfies style and colour direction for both UK and global contract customers. Creating technical packs for initial sample development and fine tuning with colourway options for production. Creating profiles for ordered styles on PLMS database for orders to be raised by merchandise department. Liaising with China and Bangladesh offices, senior management, sales, garment technologists and merchandisers. Requirements: Minimum of one year experience in a similar men’s knitwear role. Strong creative design skills with a good understanding of garment construction. Excellent Illustrator CAD skills. Strong communication and experience of working with Global suppliers. Good knowledge of stitch techniques, knitting times, yarn counts and gauges. Commercially aware with a good eye to adapt high street trends and colour. Exceptionally well organised with good attention to detail. Able to work as part of a team. Shima Seiki experience would be great.
