About the Role

Designer

We are looking for an experienced Designer to join a fantastic and well established clothing supplier. This position reports into the Design Manager and works in partnership with the Design Director, Sales Director, Design teams, merchandising teams, sales teams and production teams across our offices.

Core to the role is the ability to create innovative and aesthetically pleasing designs for clothing and accessories, impeccable attention to detail and to achieve and maintain the highest level of design, service and quality for our customers and suppliers ensuring the Group standards are always met. This role demands creativity, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of fashion trends and consumer preferences. You will contribute and support the business to achieve agreed objectives, commercial success, and organisational growth in line with the Group’s business strategy.

 

Key Accountabilities/Primary Responsibilities:

Design/Product:

  • Develop creative and original designs working to a customer CP per phase, considering market trends, target audience, and brand identity.
  • Develop fabrics and print techniques to produce innovative and unique designs.
  • Generate and maintain a high standard of design within the customer brief and customer profile.
  • Create concept boards and ranges for each phase
  • Have a strong understanding of garment construction, fabric properties, and manufacturing processes.
  • Work closely with the production team and factories to ensure the feasibility, quality of designs and cost effectiveness during the production process.
  • Work closely with suppliers to understand and source appropriate material and trims, considering capabilities and limitations.
  • Consider sustainability and ethical practices when selecting materials.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and designs are delivered on time.
  • Collaborate with production team to refine designs and resolve technical issues.
  • Regular store visits/shop reports
  • Stay informed about industry regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Assist the Designer Manager in providing guidance and mentorship to assistant designers and junior designers, assisting them in their professional development.
  • Lead brainstorming sessions and design critiques to foster a collaborative and creative work environment.
  • Regularly attend customer meetings to maintain strong relationships
  • Develop a high standard of design to showcase newness for each season, fabric, shape, graphics and trend.

Administration:

  • Coordinate with the Design Manager and Account Manager to ensure price needs are met at the design stage.
  • Liaise with Licensors on new films/anniversaries
  • Support the design team to ensure all key dates are achieved.  

Communication:

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams across the group
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to create visually appealing product presentations and promotional materials.

This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 3 days working in the office.

Oversee full product launch execution, from planning to publishing, and conduct site audits to ensure stock is accurately displayed online with correct imagery and information. Market & Competitor Analysis: Regularly produce competitor analysis across online and retail channels to inform strategy and maintain a strong market position. About the role: The role will support the Head of Planning in providing strategic decision making across the key categories within the business. Main areas of focus; - Forward planning and trading of your areas. All driven by robust analysis and working closely with the buying teams. Technical Requirements Review previous seasons and produce analysis with supporting information. Work alongside the HOP and Buyers to create the group mix strategy for the categories across all channels and stock profiles. Attend Range Control and Selection meetings with the HOP and Buyers. Ensure the Buy matches the signed off Buy Plan. Populate the WSSIs with budget/forecast KPIs. Manage availability on CORE lines - carry out periodic reviews on performance, exposure, cover etc. Review trading performance on new season lines, identifying risks and opportunities whilst making recommendations for maximising sales. Monitor performance on CARRY OVER lines – rebuys, more focus etc. Track and highlight variance to sales plan, alongside YOY performances. Analyse trial and new initiatives to provide clear insight.
